"I start with an idea, make sketches and script notes, draw page 1, jump ahead to key scenes, maybe the ending, and back and forth in between, filling in blanks. I sketch lightly in pencil and render in markers. I don't work from a script, I improvise. I toss out entire sequences that don't work, then add zip-a-tone. In the case of Narcissa, I substituted photoshop for zip-a-tone."
